In this article, we will cover the different permission levels that can be assigned to users within the curriculum platform. Assigning permission levels and organizing roles within a school or district can ensure content is not being published before it has been reviewed, or deleted accidentally.
Users can be assigned three different permission levels within Chalk: Publisher, Creator, and Viewer.
- Curriculum Publisher
- The Publisher permission has the ability to edit map content, create new maps/drafts and has the ability to publish, archive, and restore archived maps.
- This role is recommended for administrators or subject area experts involved in the review and publishing process.
- Curriculum Creator
- The Creator permission has the ability to edit map content, create new maps/drafts, but does not have the ability to publish, archive or restore archived maps.
- This role is recommended for subject area experts and teachers actively involved in the curriculum development process.
- Curriculum Viewer
- The Viewer permission can only view content in curriculum maps. It does not allow for users to create/edit maps.
- This role is recommended for teachers who are not actively involved in the curriculum development process but will access and utilize the curriculum content.
Note: It is important to identify these roles within your organization as it allows for improved organization, easier review processes, and accessibility.
Navigate to the Admin feature by selecting it from the left-hand menu.
Select the Users tab from the left. You will now be able to search for individual users by using the list view, or the search bar at the top
Select the user of your choice and you will be brought to their profile page. The permission levels are located on the left-hand side.
Once you have checked off the Role for the user, the permissions will be set up.
